Academic Opportunity Scholarship for Under Represented Student



This is a merit scholarship for two years. This scholarship is a 50% waiver of full time in‐district tuition and fees. It does not cover books, additional course supplies or any non-credit course cost. This scholarship is not hardship-based.

Requirements: The student must be a graduating high school senior from a Parkland College 505 district high school and have a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 grading scale, or a 4.0 on a 5.0 grading scale. Must represent a cultural, ethnic or racial under represented group at Parkland College, or in a specific career/degree field. Must demonstrate participation in high school and or/community service activities. Must be a U. S. citizen or permanent resident and must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the upcoming academic year.

Requirements to Continue Receipt of Scholarship:  Cannot drop below 12 credit hours each semester except for summer Must maintain a 3.0 grade cumulative point average each semester Must re‐apply for financial aid for the second year. Must maintain good citizenship. Must meet with the Dean of Students before mid-terms each semester. Must enroll in and complete a section of FYE 101- Educational, Career, and Life Planning during the first year of attendance.

Scholarship Recipient shall
